Choose Your Challenge!

Sunday, September 13 - Sunday, September 27

While we we can't gather for our signature in-person Kayak-a-thon this year, we won't let September pass by without an opportunity for a supportive, community-building day where we plan for and undertake a personal challenge to support inclusive outdoor recreation programs!  We hope you'll join us this year, in the spirit the day is intended, as we all encourage ourselves and each other to an active day of outdoor pursuit.

You can participate in one of our supported options (space and COVID-related gathering guidelines dependent) or build your own adventure!  We will gather by Zoom throughout the day to check-in and cheer each other on.

What do we mean by "Choose Your Challenge?"  Pick an adventure that is a challenge for YOU.  That could be a 1-mile trek on your local accessible trail, a short kayak trip around your local cove, a 10 mile run, a 25 mile bike ride, or a long point to point kayak trip. If it's outdoors, and it's meaningful to you, it counts!

Pre-registration by September 26 is required, and reservations for equipment (see below for supported options) will be on a first-come, first-served basis after you've registered.  Registration includes an event t-shirt (register by September 20 to guarantee your choice of size).  You will have the option to create a fundraising page, as in past Kayak-a-thons, to help All Out Adventures raise the critical funds we need to sustain our programs through the COVID related public health emergency.

In-person Supported Options

(Options are subject to change based on COVID-related regulations that may affect permits as well as state and local level guidance on group size. Also, please note that people opting for an in-person option will need to be fully independent, either on their own or with the assistance of a caregiver.  Our staff can not provide hands-on support with transfers, balance, etc.):

Option 1:  Cycling in Northampton (10am - 2pm)

Sunday, September 20

Equipment available by reservation for up to 3 hours, first-come, first-served:  Borrow one of our adaptive cycles to take a ride on the local bike paths.  Cycle pick-up and drop-off at our 297 Pleasant St., Northampton, office.  There is plenty of parking available, and you can ride your borrowed cycle just a couple blocks to the bike path.  Additional $25 registration fee/person applies for this option.  Email us when you register to request access to a cycle and specific timeframe for your chosen day.

Option 2:  Explore the Summit of Mt. Greylock (2pm - 7:30pm)

Sunday, September 13

Drive up the auto road (or hike up one of the many trails) of the highest peak in Massachusetts.  Take in the breathtaking view from the summit and explore the trails and historic Bascom Lodge.  Sunset is at 7:05pm. [This option is pending permit approval]

Option 3:  Paddle the CT River from Northampton Community Rowing

Sunday, September 13 (1pm - 6pm) or Sunday, September 20 (10am - 3pm)
