DAR State Forest, 78 Cape Street, Goshen, MA 01032, USA
Pre-registration required. We will follow CDC guidelines. Masks must be worn at all times and social distance maintained. Group 1: Arrive at 11:00AM to sign in and get equipment. Activity is from 11:15 AM-12:45 PM Group 2: Arrive at 1:15 PM to sign in and get equipment. Activity is from 1:30 PM-3:00 PM
Join us for guided hiking at DAR State Forest in Goshen. Meet us outside in the main parking lot near the warming hut. Equipment and instruction provided by our knowledgeable and friendly program staff. We have a trails wheelchair for use as well. Due to social distancing protocols, our staff can instruct participants and caregivers on the use of the wheelchair but will not be able to assist in pushing .
We will go together as a group. We will cover approximately 2-3 miles based on the group's ability and interest. We will cover flat ground, some gentle hills, and rolling terrain.
Funding provided by a grant through the Veterans Administration Adaptive Sports Grant and by the Massachusetts State Rehabilitation Commission's Statewide Head Injury Program. Program is open to Veterans, Disabled Members of the Armed Forces, Traumatic or Acquired Brain Injury Survivors, and loved ones.
What to bring: Dress for hiking with sturdy shoes or hiking boots. Dress in layers. Bring a small backpack with a water bottle and snack. Extra warm layers.
Important Information: There is an accessible porta-potty on site. The warming hut is not open this year.
Cost: $5 per SHIP participant. No charge for Veterans.

To limit the number of people in the program base area, we are spacing arrivals 15 minutes apart, and the cycles can be reserved for 1 hour. Please let us know the approximate time you would like to arrive when you call or email.
Explore the Blackstone River Bikeway with the use of our adaptive cycles, including recumbent trikes, tandem recumbent trikes, handcycles, and a wheelchair tandem
This program is open to Veterans, Disabled Members of the Armed Forces, and their loved ones at no charge, as it is funded by the federal Veterans Adaptive Sports Grant
Due to current COVID precautions, our staff and volunteers can not provide 1:1 support. To participate in these programs, participants will (either on their own or with the assistance of a caregiver who attends with them):
- Be able to steer, brake, and shift the cycle
- Consistently stay to the right while riding and stop at intersections
- Be able to transfer on and off the cycle
- Be able to use equipment independently (though staff will provide support at the base in getting set up and adjusting the equipment)
- Follow our guidelines for programming during COVID, including:
- Wearing a face covering (that covers mouth and nose) at base area and while cycling
- Completing a checklist to attest to not having COVID symptoms upon arrival

Cycling for Veterans and People with Traumatic or Acquired Brain Injuries
Cycling for Veterans and People with Traumatic or Acquired Brain Injuries

Cycling Program for Veterans and People with Traumatic or Acquired Brain Injuries. Meet us at Look Park to check out a wide variety of cycles that can accommodate riders of all abilities with stable recumbent tricycles, tandem cycles, hand-pedaled cycles and more. Instruction provided. Program Cost: $5 for people with brain injuries. No charge for Veterans.
- This program is open to both survivors of traumatic or acquired brain injuries and Veterans and disabled members of the Armed Forces. There is no charge for this program for Veterans, as their participation is generously funded by the federal Veterans Adaptive Sports grant. SHIP participants should expect to pay a $10 vehicle entry fee to the park (season pass is $50) plus a $5 program fee as required by our contract with Mass Rehab.
- Pre-registration before 3pm on the Tuesday before is required. We will not be able to accommodate any walk-ins. You can pre-register by emailing Karen at info@alloutadventures.org.
- We will be staggering arrivals about 20 minutes apart in order to ensure our gathering size at the program base remains small.
- Staff will be riding through the park during the program but will not be able to ride tandem or alongside a specific individual.
- Look Park requires face masks or face coverings while using the park.
- Program participants who need assistance with balance or with a transfer will need to come with someone who can provide that assistance. Our staff will not provide any hands-on support beyond typical cycle adjustments.
- Participants with any sign of illness or who have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID will not be able to attend.
- We will send additional details and guidelines to people as they pre-register.
